Feds Open Day Success - August 2015

On Saturday, the 22nd of August, the South Brisbane Federal Band (The Feds) hosted an Open Day at the band hall in Musgrave Park. The Open Day was part of an initiative to start a new band within the Feds organisation and was open to brass and percussion players of all standards!

The response from the public was overwhelming, as many musicians from the surrounding community were keen to get involved! Participants enjoyed learning some new music and were supported by members of the existing Feds, finishing with a concert to finish the day on a high. The Open Day was supported by the fantastic Brisbane weather, which provided perfect conditions for the sausage sizzle at lunch time!

As a community organisation, the South Brisbane Federal Band and is very excited to be pursuing initiatives such as these. Bringing as many people to the band to share and make music together is at the core of the Feds ethos.

The Feds would like to thank everyone who came, including the band as well as the committee for putting in the necessary work to ensure the success of the open day. The Feds are delighted to be able to invite all those who attended on Saturday, as well any other interested beginner musicians to attend a second Open Day on the 19th of September, once again at the Feds home in Musgrave Park. After the second open day, regular rehearsals will begin at Musgrave Park on Tuesday nights starting 22nd September 2015. These sessions will be led by Mr Danny Dielkens, the acting Musical Director of the Feds 'A' Grade brass band. More details will be provided soon!
