2017 Feds Success at the Australian Band Championships

Owen Clarke: Successful Debut as Feds Musical Director

The South Brisbane Federal Band has just completed an extremely successful weekend in Launceston at the 2017 Australian National Band Championships.  The band played consistently over all three days of competition, representing Queensland in the Open A Grade section with style.  The band was awarded 1st Place in the Street March and their Drum Major, Michael Adams was awarded Champion Drum Major in A Grade - a huge achievement for both the Feds and Michael.  The band placed 3rd in the Hymn, 2nd in the Stage March and overall the band was placed 4th for the on-stage section.  First place for the on-stage section went to Central Coast Brass, who were awarded the A-Grade National Champions. An award at Nationals is also given to the Band with the highest points overall, which consists of both the on-stage and street march sections. Due to the Feds strong showing on the street march, they took first place in the Aggregate, as they had won the most points in A Grade during the contest. This is an amazing achievement and one that the Feds are extremely proud of, backing up from their win at the Queensland States in October 2016.

The Feds would like to say a big thank you to Mr Owen Clarke for his musical direction and for leading the band to one of the best results at a National competition in recent times. The band is looking foward to continuing to develop and grow under Owen's direction when rehearsals resume in May.
